How
From a practical viewpoint, individual coaching is organised in the form of interactions where the coach brings the customer to identify and to build on their strengths, to identify and compensate any weaknesses, to understand their inner motivation and any blockages, and to progressively develop their own solutions to achieve their professional objectives.
Coaching is not about the coach taking responsibility for the customer, it is about working together with shared responsibility. The coach cannot change the customer ; the customer changes themselves with the aid of the coach.
Efficiency of this work depends on
- naturally, the coach’s competences
- but also the customer’s willingness to change and involvement
- and most importantly the alliance (i.e. the quality of the relationship) between the coach and the customer.
By his/her professional knowledge, know-how and interpersonal skills, the coach will adapt to the maturity and rhythm of the customer who will then progressively move towards better performance and autonomy.
