Hints for successful training

Training is an important investment. Get the most out of it!

  • Select the right course. Don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your requirements.
  • Adequately prepare the participants by providing them with the course description, explaining to them the reasons why they have been selected to attend the course and the context in which the training fits in within your organisation. Training IS NOT something to be done in a vacuum.
  • Allocate time for the participants to review the topics shortly after the course in order to pursue the learning curve and integrate the taught concepts.
  • Give the participants the opportunity to apply what they have learned by fitting your training sessions in a broader well-organised and well-publicised initiative.
  • Don’t expect miracles from training. It is not only attending a course that will improve your performance, it is how you apply what you have learned after the event.
  • Give consideration to maximising the impact of the training by initiating other activities ‘on the back’ of the training (e.g. coaching is an excellent complement to training) or by arranging refresher sessions.
  • For on-site courses
    • Plan far enough in advance so that people can arrange their diaries and organize their absence from their office. Participants stressed by what they have left behind them at the office are less focused and profit less from their training.
    • Similarly, arrange for an adequate venue, ideally out of participant’s usual environment in order to minimize disturbance. Please contact us to discuss the training room requirements. In summary the room should be light, airy, adequately sized for the number of delegates, quiet and away from ‘day to day’ pressures.
